After Black Flag's demise Henry Rollins wasn't inactive and soon gathered set of musicians. Under his name and later as Rollins Band they played stuff rooted in hard core but also influenced by metal, blues, jazz and funk.

This gig was recorded in France in 1989 on their "Hard Volume" tour. Very good versions of their originals with bunch of covers (although "Stand By Me" is very weird version).

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 103 - The Band of Endless Noise

The Band of Endless Noise staretd in 2001. They recorded two albums: self titled debut in 2001 and "Riders on the Bikes" in 2005.

Second album features great psychedelic post-rock with some ethnic influences and slight touch of electronic.

Masada Live

Masada's set recorded on Hamburg Jazzfestival in 1994. Ravishing amalgam of jewish music and jazz in vein of Ornette Coleman.

That night Masada was: John Zorn (alto saxophone), Dave Douglas (trumpet), Greg Cohen, (bass) and Kenny Wollesen (drums).

In 1995 this concert was released on bootleg CD as ""Masada Live" with false information that this was recorded in New York.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 98 - Variete

Variete is cold Wave band founded in 1983. First line up: Grzegorz Kaźmierczak (vocals), Wojciech Woźniak (bass), Jacek Buhl (drums), Radosław Urbański (guitar), Sławomir Abramowicz (saxophone). Abramowicz left in 1985, Urbański in 1987. Debut album "Bydgoszcz" was recorded in 1986 but released in 2002. First proper album "variete" was released in 1993.

For short time in 1987 variete played as trio: Kaźmierczak, Woźniak and Buhl. Very minimalistic sound - only rhythm section with vocals. This gig is from that phase.

Mózg ("Brain" in Polish) is a performance place (concert, exhibitions and more) in Bydgoszcz aimed at contemporary art. It was established in 1994 by Jacek Majewski and Sławomir Janicki (on photo). Mózg and Gdańsk were centers of yass movement.

This compilation was released to celebrate fifth anniverary of Mózg.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 96 - Dezerter

After their firt EP (1983) communist authorities decide that Dezerter can't record or release anything. Dezerter recordings were smuggled (by Joey "Shithead" Keithley from D.O.A.) into USA and released by Maximum Rock'n'Roll.

This album is compilation of various band's efforts: first EP, live recordings from Jarocin festival and "pirate" session (they recorded without permission few songs in one take "live in studion").

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 95 - Houk

Houk was formed in 1988 by Robert Sadowski (gutar; later Kobong), Piotr Falkowski (drums; later Falarek Band), Tadeusz Kaczorowski (bass) and Zbigniew Bieniak (Vocals). In 1989 Zbigniew Bienak was replaced by Dariusz "Maleo" Malejonek (Kultura Izrael, Moskwa, Armia). This line-up releases three albums: "Soul Ammunition" (1992), live album "Natural Way (Full Noize)" (1993) and "Transmission Into Your Heart" (1994). "Transmission ..." was their best album. Robert Sadowski left band shortly after recording session. Without him Houk recorded two more albums: "Generation X" (1995) and "Extra Pan" (2000)

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 93 - T.Love

T.Love was founded in 1982 under name Teenage Love Alternative (Later T.Love Alternative). Firstly they played punk. In late eighties band broke up but reformed shortly after under new name T. Love. Also music changed: now sound was more mainstream and later with pop influences. Their third album "Prymityw", recorded in 1994 is their finest. It's their hardest album but with great, melodic songs and some reggae vibes.

"Sweet Sister Ray" is some sort of extended intro to "Sister Ray". This piece was recorded when John Cale was still part of The Velvet Underground. All versions of "Sister Ray" are with Doug Yule.

Mikirurka is a rock band from Kraków, Poland, formed in 2007. Band's name is hommage to Mickey Rourke. Their music is inspired by Queens Of The Stone Age and NoMeansNo. Early releases weren't very impressive, but band developed with time. "Vol. 2" is their latest stuff, recorded in june 2009. Very good stuff. It's better than QOTSA last record. Way better. Check it out.
