Lou Reed 08.11.1974 Chalmette

"When the show started, the band took the stage without Lou and played the intro to Sweet Jane, and Lou strolled out, his hair dyed blonde and wearing a black sleeveless T-shirt and jeans; rail thin and as pale as a vampire. Lou then tied off his arm as if he were about to shoot up....he used his microphone cable to tie off with....and produced a syringe filled with a clear liquid. And Lou proceeds to look like he is gonna really shoot up.
At this point, a huge St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Deputy in full riot gear walked out on stage in front of Lou Reed, and faced Lou with his hands on his hips. He pointed to stage right and escorted Lou off stage. You can hear the uneasiness in the air. The band is so nervous that they go into Sweet Jane a second time but Lou Reed, upon returning to the stage, sans syringe, starts singing Vicious instead."

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 86 - Apteka

Apteka's third album was recorded in 1992 and released in 1993 (on MC only). It's their most psychodelic record (and perhaps best). Great music.
Shortly before albums release band's drummer Maciej Wanat died in carcrash. Apteka split-up shortly after but reactivated in 1994.
This tape was relased on CD in 2003 under new title: "Psychedelic Underground". Three bonus tracks from band's second album "Narkotyki" were added.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 85 - PRL

PRL was a band founded by great guitarist Rafał Kwaśniewski. Earlier he was member of Deuter, Krew, Sstil, Kult, Dezerter, Elektryczne Gitary and Homo Twist. Name PRL is abbreviation of "pierolenie"(fucking). Band released only two records: "Polski rokendrol" in 1995 and "Zła wiadomość" in 1996. Kwaśniewski wanted to title this album as "Spierdalaj" (fuck off) but lated changed it to "Zła wiadomość" (bad news).
Great, great, catchy songs with with riffs that could make Ray Davies jealous. Later Kwasniewski disapear from the scene. Great loss because he was excellent musician.

You can get "Polski rokendrol from HERE (blog with Polish music)
Short PRL live set from HERE (another fine blog with Polish music - contemporary classical, stuff from OBUH and some weird rarites. Well, I found this album there - Uberthanks)

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 84 - Homo Twist

Homo Twist is a band formed in 1993 by Maciej Maleńczuk and some jazz musicians. They played rock with some jazz and blues influences. Fist album "Cały ten seks" was released in 1994 and second "Homo Twist" in 1996. "Moniti Revan" from 1997 is first album recorded with Olaf Deriglasoff. Music became simpler with some touch of punk. It's dark, dense music with lots of great riffs. Some songs have lyrics written in language invented by Maleńczuk.
