After demise of Sleep in 1998 Matt Pike formed new band - High on Fire. Rest of the group waited with something new until 2003. Al Cisneros (bass, vocals) and Chris Hakius (drums) formed Om then. Their music is great psychedelic stoner/doom.

Cisneros and hakius recorded three albums: "Variations on a Theme" (2005), "Conference of the Birds" (2006), "Pilgrimage" (2007).

In 2008 Hakius was replaced by Emil Amos (from Ruins). New line-up released one album: "God is Good" in 2009

Godflesh - Hymns Demos

Title explains everything. Early versions of songs from Godflesh final album "Hymns", released in 2001. Broadrick disbanded group year later. His next project Jesu debuted in 2003.

"Birthdeath" is early version of "Paralyzed" and "Beyond Good & Evil" changed to "Deaf, Dumb and Blind".

Jude is a Polish band formed in Łódź in 1993. Inspired by Laibach, Neurosis, Swans and Godflesh they play rough mix of industrial and hardcore.

They relased two demo tapes: "Ultimate Obedience" [1997] (thre songs from that session were released in 1999 on "Vertebral Treatments" - split with Dysmorfofobia) and "Sickness Bag" [1999]. In 2004 Jude relased first album: "Combat Exhaustion".

Kinsky was avantgarde metal band founded in 1992. Inspirations: Hegel, Napalm Death, Theodor Adorno, Marquez, Olaton, Slayer, Ernst Bloch, Eco, Naked City, Nietzsche, Universe Zero. Band was famous because unusual theatrical concerts. They recorded first demo in march 1992. In autumn of 1993 debut album "Copula Mundi" was recorded. It was released in december. Another demo was recorded in january 1995 and later second album. This stuff remained unreleased and band broke up. Tony von Kinsky played in Dezerter and Marchlevsky, Paulus von Kinsky in Multicide.

Their debiut is very difficult but worth listening. Mixture of grindcore, doom with some free avantgarde noodling and lyrics in English, Polish, French, German, and Latin.

Krzycz (Scream in Polish) was a band playing mix of noise rock and hardcore with some Neurosis-influenced doomy parts. After demo and EP they released debut album "Trauma" in 1998. Realy nice records. Some songs are simbly excellent. They even used some piano and trumpet. Band broke up after that album.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 69 - Kobong

Kobong was formed in 1994 by Robert Sadowski (guitar), Maciej Miechowicz (guitar), Bogdan Kondracki (bass, vocals) and Wojciech Szymański (drums). Band played excellent progressive metal - hard and technical. Heavy riffs, grinding bass and tribal-like drums.

In 1995 they released great album "Kobong". Two years later even better "Chmury nie było". Band split-up in 1998. All members (except of Robert Sadowski) started in 2001 new band Neuma. Szymański and Kondracki also played in Nyia.

Jesu 16.10.2007 Atlanta

Justin K. Broadrick's main band Godflesh was disbanded in 2002. In 2003 started new project: Jesu. It was named after Last song on last Godflesh album "Hymns". In beginning Jesu was one-man band, later Broadrick hired other musicians.
Jesu is successor of Godflesh but new project's sound is quite different. Although still heavy and powerful, it's more mellow and less riff-based. Nice mixture of drone doom and post-rock.

"Fryta z kopyta czyli Nikt Nic Nie Wie" is compilation with bands from Nikt Nic Nie Wie label. Almost all bands are from Poland. Only exception is Trottel from Hungary. It was insert for "XL" magazine in september 1998, precisely 10 years ago.
Nikt Nic Nie Wie (literaly "no one knows anything") is Polish independent label and distro established in 1989. This compilation gathers bands that were connected with the label. range of genres is very wide: punk, hardcore, crust, doom, noise rock and even some softer sounds.

High on Fire is three piece band, formed in 1998 by Matt Pike - ex-gutairist of Sleep. Their music could be described as mixture of Black Sabbath and Motorhead. But even heavier and aggressive. They have all the power of Sleep and raw power of Lemmy's band.
This concert from tour promoting"Death is This Communion" album. Pure sweat and adrenaline. They didn't take prisoners.
