Robert Brylewski's latest project. Since 1978 he experimented with all forms of punk and reggae. This band is like culmination of his efforts. Great amalgam of postpunk with reggae/dub. In my opinion it's best album of 2008. You should check it.

Album was self released by band as limited digipack with additional CD with remixes and DVD with video clips. Now album is avaible as free download on band's site.

The Users was polish underground supergroup. Line-up: Robert Brylewski - Guitar (Armia, Brygada Kryzys, Deadlock, Falarek band, Izrael, Kryzys, 52um), Marcin Świetlicki - Vocals (Świetliki), Mikołaj Trzaska - saxophons, bass clarinet (Łoskot, Masło, Miłość, NRD), Ryszard "Tymon" Tymański - bass, double bass, vocals (Czan, Kury, Masło, Miłość, NRD, Trupy), Milo Kurtis - percussions (Drum Freaks, Manaam, Osjan, Voo Voo), Jacek Olter - drums (Kury, Miłość, NRD).
Album "Nie idź do pracy" was recorded during their first gig 08.04.1999. Earlier they played only one rehearsal. It's improvised jazz with ethnic and dub influences.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 53 - Falarek Band

Falarek Band was created in early nineties by Piotr "Fala" Falkowski (Kult, Houk) and Arkadiusz Antonowicz. Later Robert Brylewski, Jarosław "Smok" Smak (Post Regiment) and Piotr "Samohut" Subotkiewicz joined.
First album "Falarek" was recorded 1993-1995 and self released by band in 1996. Music on this album is trance postpunk/postrock with heavy hypnotic riffs. "Freex" is a killer.
In the same year limited EP "+++" was released. Second album was planned but never came. One song "Red Light" was released on BRUM compilation.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 49 - Kryzys

In 1978 Maciej "Magura" Góralski and Robert Brylewski (later in Brygada Kryzys, Izrael, Armia, Falarek Band and many other projects) founded band The Boors. Name was soon changed into Kryzys ("crisis" in polish). It was one of the first polish punk/new wave groups. They never recorded official album.
In 1981 Kryzys split-up and Brylewski founded Brygada Kryzys (with Tomek Lipiński from Tilt). In the same year in France bootleg album "Kryzys" was released. You will find it on this blog.
Tape "78-81" was released in 1994. It's compilation of old songs remastered by Robert Brylewski.
In 2008 group was reformed in original line-up.

Exectly 5ive years ago - 08.12.2003 - reformed Brygada kryzys played excellent gig at Garage Club in London. Great music - very energetic punk with psychedelic and reggae vibes. Their version of "Legalize It" is amazing.

Izrael is most popular Polish reggae band. It was formed in 1983 by Robert Brylewski (ex-Kryzys, ex-Brygada Kryzys) and Paweł Kelner (Deuter). Lineup was very fluent. About 100 musicians played in Izrael. Most prominently were: Dariusz "Maleo" Malejonek, Piotr "Stopa" Żyżlewicz, Włodzimierz "Kinior" Kiniorski.
Izrael released albums: "Biada, Biada, Biada" (1983/released 1985), "Nabij Faję" (1986), "Duchowa Rewolucja" (1987), "1991" (1991), "Live 93 - Życie jak muzyka" (released 1994), "12RA3L in Dub" (Gold Rock 1997).
Izrael split-up in 1995. Reformed in 2006 under name Magnetosfera, later changed to Izrael. New album produced by Mad Professor, will be released soon.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 14 - Armia

Armia was by established Tomasz Budzyński (ex-Siekiera vocalist) and Robert Brylewski (guitarist for Kryzys, Brygada Kryzys and Izrael). At the beginning they treated it like a experimental project. Now band have over 25 years of history and still plays great music.
First recordings of Armia were strongly influenced by punk/hard core. Soon they developed their own sound and played like no one else. It was post punk with symphonic-like impetus. One of the reasons of such special sound was use of french horn. At that time among they favourite bands were: Killing Joke, New Model Army and Swans.
All lyrics were made by Budzyński. At that time He was stronly influenced by gnosticism. lyrics were mainly about spirituality and mystical side of life. "Aquirre" is inspired by Werner Herzog's movie "Aquirre - Wrath of God".

Here you got their gig from Jarocin. It was biggest rock festival in Poland. Although sound is little rough, music is very powerful so you shouldn't be disappointed.

Don't Panic, We're From Poland!!! part 5 - Brygada Kryzys

Brygada Kryzys was founded in 1981 by Robert Brylewski (previously Kryzys, later Izrael, Armia, Falarek and hundreds of other bands and projects) and Tomasz Lipiński (previously Tilt, later Tilt). First album "Brygada Kryzys" was recorded in 1982. Due to the problems with censorship and authorities band was dissolved in the same year. Brylewski and Lipiński reunited in 1991 and recorded "Cosmopolis" album in 1992. In 1994 Brygada Kryzys break up. Reactivated once more in 2003.
Brygada Kryzys is not only one of first (and best) polish punk bands but also the biggest legend of polish underground. Their blend of punk, psychedelia and reggae is truly unique.
"Live in Remont" concert was recorded 13 December 1993. It was anniversary of Martial Law in Poland.
